Schedule Your Release Notes for Automatic Generation

Tired of manually generating release notes every time? You can set a schedule to have them created for you automatically. This ensures you get consistent updates at a pace that works for your team, without any extra effort.

Why Schedule Your Release Notes?

Scheduling your release notes is a great way to save time and maintain a consistent rhythm for your updates.

  • Stay on a Cadence: Automatically generate notes weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly to keep everyone informed regularly.

  • Save Time: Instead of manually creating and waiting for release notes, they will be ready for you automatically based on your schedule.

How to Set Up a Schedule

You can create or edit your release note schedule right from the Release Notes page.

  1. From the main toolbar, navigate to the Release Notes section.

  2. In the top-right corner, click the Schedule automatic release notes button. If a schedule already exists, this button will say Edit schedule.

  3. A dialog box will open with the following options:

    • Frequency type: Choose how often you want release notes to be generated. The options are:

      • Weekly

      • Every 2 weeks

      • Every 3 weeks

      • Monthly

    • Start date: Select the date when you want the schedule to begin.

    • Auto-publish: Select a Slack channel where you want release notes to be published automatically.

    • Publish delay: Choose how long after generation you want the notes to be published (e.g. Instantly, 1 day, 2 days, 3 days).

  4. Click Create to save your schedule.

Once saved, your release notes will be automatically generated based on the frequency and start date you selected.
