Your first day using Solo

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Start your journey with Solo. Solo helps you inform your teams of product launches, maintain up-to-date documentation, and simplify product support by answering questions directly from your connected tools.

Introduction to Solo

Solo acts as your automated product expert. It connects to your codebase and external tools to help you:

  • Inform teams of launches: Generate and share release notes based on recent product changes.

  • Maintain documentation: Identify out-of-date content and generate new guides.

  • Simplify product support: Answer questions about how your product works directly in Solo or Slack.

Release notes

Solo analyzes your recent updates to write user-friendly release notes.

  • Generate: You can manually create release notes by selecting a timeframe, such as the past week or since your last release.

  • Schedule and publish: Set up an automated schedule (daily, weekly, or monthly) to generate release notes. You can choose a specific Slack channel for Solo to automatically publish these notes to and add a delay before publishing.

  • Approve: If you require approval, selected reviewers receive a notification to review the notes. Reviewers can select Approve before the notes are published.

  • Add labels: Group your updates by applying labels. You can create custom labels and assign them to individual items to keep your updates organized.

Documentation

Keep your help center and internal guides accurate.

  • Generate documentation: Select Generate New Documentation and provide a topic. You can add specific sections you want included, provide instructions on content, and upload supporting files.

  • Edit mode: Use Edit Mode to refine your documentation. Select Add New Content or Rephrase Existing Content, type your instructions, and Solo provides suggested edits. You can preview the changes, then select Accept Changes or Reject Changes.

  • Edit suggestions: When Solo detects changes that outdate your existing documentation, it automatically creates review items. You can view the outdated text alongside the new suggested text, preview the changes, and select Accept to apply the updates.

Product Support

Ask questions about your product's functionality and get immediate answers.

  • Use in Solo's UI: Go to the Chat page to ask questions. Solo reviews your connected tools to provide answers and lists the exact sources it used.

  • Use in Slack: Mention @AskSolo in your configured Slack channels to get answers without leaving your workspace.

  • Shortcuts: Tailor Solo's responses using specific text in your question:

    • Include [deep dive] in your question to tell Solo to explain the logic in detail.

    • Include (sources: codebase) or other tool names (like zendesk or notion) to restrict where Solo pulls its answer from.
