Connect Solo to Your Slack Workspace

Integrating Solo with your Slack workspace allows your team to get instant answers to their questions directly within the channels they already use. Solo can draw upon all your connected knowledge sources, like your codebase, Notion, or Intercom, to provide comprehensive answers right in Slack.

How to Set Up the Slack Integration

Connecting Slack is a two-part process. First, you'll authorize the connection to your workspace. Then, you'll configure which channels you want Solo to be active in and what knowledge it should use.

1. Connect Your Slack Workspace

To get started, you'll need to connect your Slack account. This is a one-time setup that authorizes Solo to interact with your workspace. Once you initiate the connection from the integrations page, you will be guided through Slack's authorization process to approve the integration.

2. Configure a Slack Channel

After connecting your workspace, you can set up specific channels for Solo to operate in. Each channel can have its own unique configuration.

  1. Select a Channel: In the "Channel Name" field, choose a public Slack channel from the dropdown list. This is the channel where Solo will be active.

  2. Choose Knowledge Sources: In the "Sources" field, select one or more knowledge sources that Solo should use to find answers. Available sources may include:

    • Codebase

    • Intercom

    • Notion

    • Slack

    • Website

  3. Select Repositories (If Applicable): If you selected "Codebase" as a source, the "Repo Names" field will appear. Choose the specific code repositories you want Solo to use for its answers in this channel.

  4. Enable the "Find Expert" Button: You can turn on the "Show find expert button" option. When enabled, this adds a button to Solo's responses that helps users identify team members who are experts on the topic.

  5. Save the Configuration: Click Save. Solo is now configured for that channel!

You can repeat these steps to configure as many channels as you need.

Manage Your Existing Configurations

Once you've set up one or more channels, they will appear in a list on the Slack integration page. For each configuration, you can easily see:

  • The channel name.

  • The knowledge sources it uses.

  • The specific repositories it's connected to.
